Why rubber netting instead of nylon mesh?

Rubber is gentler on a fish's slime coat, which matters for catch-and-release survival. It also tangles hooks less than nylon mesh, which makes unhooking faster. We use rubber for both reasons.

Do I actually need a landing net, or can I just grab the fish?

Not always, but many anglers find it makes fishing easier. A landing net helps prevent fish from shaking free at the bank, reduces handling time during catch-and-release, and makes landing fish safer when fishing alone, from a kayak, or with kids.

How sturdy is the collapsing mechanism?

Can I use it with a rod that isn't from CarryCast?

Does the aluminum frame corrode?

Aluminum doesn't rust, but it can corrode with repeated saltwater exposure. For freshwater use it holds up fine. Rinse with fresh water and dry fully after any saltwater contact.

Can I deploy it one-handed while holding a rod?

Yes. That’s one of the primary benefits of the CarryNet. The handle can be extended with one hand, allowing you to keep control of your rod while preparing to land a fish.

Does the handle adjust on the fly, or do I have to set it before going out?

I went to collapse it, and it easily snapped on the side arm, which was holding the netting. It still usable, but weird that that happened so quickly. Otherwise very light and easily compressible.

Nice little net.

Much easier to pack than a standard net

It's a bit bulky because of the rubber net. But a rubber net causes much less harm to fish which are caught and released. It opens and folds easily and is lightweight.
